Well, here goes!

reflecting
on my research into austerity in 1941, I find I am living it! my life
seems to consist of making do and mending, a good deal of thrift,
and
occasional food shortages! especially when the fridge is kaput and I
have to use the big one outside (aka carrier bag in hanging basket). I'm
SO happy that coffee is not rationed.
Spent several days now looking at
books, websites, and artefacts, but not made it to any exhibitions or
had any ideas about that side of the project, and it was all starting to
go round and round my head a bit, so I gave up yesterday and had a day
off from thinking about it. Spent some time tidying up and cleaning (my
usual displacement activity- I always know when I have an impending
deadline, it is signalled by an overpowering urge to scrub the back of
the microwave right NOW!) so I made myself an austerity supper before
setting about finishing off the cloak I started making the winter before
last.
Next day...

I went to work, and did some thinking while there. Still unsure about what direction to take with most of this terms projects, so I did some hoovering when I got home, and cooked dinner by the fire in a marvellous little oven thingy which stands on the hearth - it's great- I can keep warm. i think my fridge packed up because it is so cold in the kitchen it thinks it needn't bother!
I have had some ideas -scribbled on the usual back of an envelope- which I shall reveal in my next post.
